Continuing on from the first part of our look at quiebro today we are going to add some arm movements on the the posture that we learnt on the weekend.
Firstly I have to tell you, I am trying to improve my technique (with José's guidance and some experimentation) along with you so everything that we advise you to avoid you might see me struggle with in the videos.
Please don't think you are alone in trying to figure everything out!
Ok, so today we are going to add an arm movement to the quiebro posture. Lets take a look at a couple of images.
We will start moving our arms from 5th position. To prepare for the quiebro make sure you are nice and lifted through your centre, shoulder down in your back with your feet together in 6th (parallel) position.
As you open one arm out to the side move your body into the quiebro position with your head on the diagonal, eyes looking out over the front shoulder. Try as much as you can not to involve your hips in this exercise. It is hard I know, but everything should be happening above the waist.
Have a look at the video below.
I start with practicing moving my torso into the quiebro position, then I practice the arm movement with out the quiebro, and to finish I put the two parts together.
Let us know how you get on, if you have any questions put them in the comments below.
If you try the quiebro movement, tag us in your photo or video on instagram or twitter - we are @flamencobites on both platforms. We would love to see/meet you there!
If you enjoyed this tutorial please share it with your flamenco/dance friends - we would really appreciate it!
